Pain Killers

A lot of prescription drugs given by doctors have highly addictive ingredients. Valium, morphine, cocaine, marijuana, oxycontin and other painkillers are prescription drugs. On the other side of the fence, they are illegal drugs that have ingredients that make them highly addictive.

Other addictive substances and drugs include heroin, steroids both injected and pill form, cocaine, alcohol, speed, cannabis, ecstasy, hallucinogens, etc. Yet not all of these are prescription drugs, still doctors will include the chemicals into some prescriptions, which lead to addictions.

Today the only cures for treating addicts is therapy, however some drug addicts are treated with medications, i.e. opioid addictions. This type of addiction is not related to opium, yet to a degree, it is an advocate of opium addictions.

Valiums is another drug that has lead people to addictions. Other painkillers of concern include Ultracet, Tramadol, Vioxx, Celebrex, mobic, bextra, imitrex, etc. Vioxx is a drug that treats pain caused from arthritis. The drug has claimed many lives, thus recently removed from the marketplace.

As you can see medications prescribed by doctors are sometimes highly dangerous. The problem lies with the fact that these medications are beneficial if used properly. Too much food will spoil you, or so the saying goes. The same maxim applies to dangerous prescription drugs. In nature, there are plants that are beneficial but when too much is taken, become poisonous.

We really cannot blame the legal drug manufacturer, the pharmacist or our physician because they work only with what nature has provided in the first place. Nature has left it to man to chart his own course. If man chooses to live a useless life of addiction, that’s his problem. Don’t tell me that addicts do not have a choice because they are addicted. Despite addictions and possible brain damages, they are still rational, thinking human beings. Like normal people, addicts have a choice. Take smoking addiction for example. I have a choice to quit but I refuse to quit because I want to smoke. If I am addicted, so be it. To me, smoking is a therapy to help me relieve stress. After this article, I will smoke because I need to relax and think about the next article. The main difference between smoking and drug addiction is the way smoking damages the brain. Smoking affects the memory.

Those who blame doctors or drug manufacturers couldn’t be more wrong. Most of the drugs coming out today come from plants. As stated above, there are plants that are beneficial but when too much is taken, become poisonous. Prescription painkillers need that addictive element because it is the addictive element itself that suppresses the pain. Without that component, there would be no such thing as painkillers.

“Man has no one to blame but himself for his misfortune.” – an old saying
