Drugs that sedate or relax a person are called downers for short. Downers are also referred to as depressants, sedatives and tranquilizers. Downers are broken up into three categories. The three categories are benzodiazapines, barbiturates and alcohol.

A lot of prescription drugs given by doctors have highly addictive ingredients. Valium, morphine, cocaine, marijuana, oxycontin and other painkillers are prescription drugs. On the other side of the fence, they are illegal drugs that have ingredients that make them highly addictive.

Morphine is a derivative of opium. Like cocaine or marijuana that comes from plants, opium can also be addictive. Morphine and heroine comes from the seeds of opium. In medicine, morphine is a muscle relaxant, a sedative and a pain suppressor. Too much morphine will relax your muscles so much so that your heart will stop beating. Since you are totally relaxed, you won’t even notice it.

The trouble with crack cocaine is its highly addictive nature. One dose is enough to hook you if you don’t have the willpower to resist. Some people who try crack for the first time will proudly claim that they aren’t addicted to it. To prove to themselves that their willpower is strong and the addiction as non-existent, they will do it again and put an end to it once and for all. Its a nice story that doesn’t happen often. When dealing with crack, one dose is all it takes. For comparison, it takes more than one cigarette stick to get hooked on smoking.

Cocaine is a crystalline alkaloid that is developed through coca leaves. It is used for medicinal purposes in treating some illnesses. Unfortunately, using the drug may lead to addiction. Cocaine comes in several forms including powder, vapor and rock crystals. Crack is a term for cocaine in the form of rock crystals. Of all the variants of cocaine, crack is the worst to get addicted to since it permanently damages the brain.
